Once again, our cup runneth over!!! Today’s Thanksgiving Food Drive Event was amazing! Thank you to all who volunteered and/or donated! It truly takes a village to pull this off! We not only had enough to give over 350 homeless and low-income families (that’s over 1,000 people) turkeys and food for a complete Thanksgiving meal, but...this is the first year that we had enough food and monetary donations to give “extra” flour, canned foods, sugar, cooking oil, salt, pasta, stuffing and more to most every family...and believe us, our larger families of 7-12 people were extremely grateful to have such a generous amount of food items. We are still in disbelief at all that we were able to give these happy, grateful families today! The community of schools, churches, sports teams, gyms, Girl Scout troops, and other organizations that came together for this one cause...well, we can’t even put into words how much this community makes us smile! 💜

Thank you to Bonnie Abel of Nothing Bundt Cakes, for donating wonderful cakes for our hard-working volunteers! Deeeeelicious!!!

We are so grateful to all of the volunteers who showed up today to help us organize and shop for food donations to give to the FRC families for Thanksgiving! Thank you SO MUCH to all who have donated food or money thus far; it is because of you that over 350 families (that’s over 1,000 people) in need will get to have a wonderful Thanksgiving meal!

Thank you Granada Hills Presbyterian Church, for the 350 prepared bags of produce for the FRC children and families who will be enjoying this healthy food for Thanksgiving!

Thank you to El Camino High School for the enormous amount of food donations for our Thanksgiving Food Drive! And thank you to Kirk O’ The Valley school for the generous food donations and monetary donations; we bought flour, sugar, salt, cooking oil, rice and more with the donations from you!

Thank you to all of the phenomenal volunteers who showed up today to help us sort Thanksgiving food donations, fill grocery bags, shop, etc. We know how difficult it can be to find time on a weekday, so we are super grateful for your help! For anyone who would like to volunteer tomorrow, just show up at Family Rescue Center anytime between 11:00am-5:00pm.

Shower program at the West Valley Food Pantry!

San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission

This month, we launched our new shower location in Canoga Park at the West Valley Food Pantry. Through our partnership, we will be able to provide many more showers, meals, and case management support each year to those in need. #DignityonWheels

Here is a really good explanation of the issues of helping and dealing with the homeless in our community, told by one person's story. Over 30% increase in people experiencing homelessness in our West San Fernando Valley area in the past year. Family Rescue Center seeks to help with weekly food covering one day's meals, referrals to sites offering hot meals and showers, and case by case assistance for those willing to seek an alternative.
