Turning Point Church

- Toys & Volunteers Needed ! - Though it feels like the Family Rescue Center Turkey Drive just ended, the Christmas season is upon us and the FRC has a record breaking number of kids (nearly 1,000!) now registered to (prayerfully!) receive a toy on December 19th! Please read on for full details of how we can all make a difference in the lives of these incredible children. Pray for God to move your heart during such a time as this. Thank you in advance for your generosity! The FRC Christmas Toy Drive: **This year's event will be held on December 18th and 19th. For this event, we will need volunteers and also toys/gifts. We are expecting almost 1000 children this year, which is more than any other year of this toy drive. Last year, we ran out of gifts for older kids (age 12-17) and also gifts for girls, 2nd-5th grade. The biggest need is definitely gift cards ($15-$25) for the older kids (Toys R Us, Target, Marshall's and Big 5 tend to be popular with them). For the older kids, we also tend to run out of skateboards, make-up kits (for the older teen girls), flat irons, sports tote bags and sports equipment (regulation size). **On the 18th, from 9:00am-2:00pm we will need volunteers to help organize toys and stocking stuffers, set up the "store" and use whatever donated funds we may get to go shopping for still needed toys/gifts. **On the 19th, we need volunteers from 8:30am-1:30pm. From 9:00-1:00pm, the families will arrive (although many will have slept in line overnight) and parents will select one toy and one stocking stuffer for each of their children. Volunteers will be their "personal shoppers" to help them with the gift-choosing process. Volunteers will then wrap the gifts, so that the children never see what gifts their parents have chosen for them. While parents are inside shopping for gifts for their children, volunteers are outside doing fun activities with the children as they wait for their parents to come out. The children's activities will include face-painting, arts & crafts, games, cookie-decorating, basketball lessons, etc. **Also, if you have an activity that you would like to do with the FRC children at the event contact Robin Noll to discuss incorporating your activity into the fun! **Our biggest concern at this point is getting 1,000 toys and/or gift cards by Dec. 19th! Since most of the FRC families cannot afford the luxury of cell phones, technology that includes email, etc.we have no way to reach them (if we don't have enough toys) to say, "We're so sorry, but we don't have enough toys this year, so please don't come..." These families will show up no matter what, in hopes of receiving one toy per child. We are hoping and praying for a 1,000-toy-miracle by Dec. 19th! **Please note, tho the 13th is the last day the Turning Point church is accepting donations at the orange Community Service Tent for the Toy Drive, you may bring toys and gift cards directly to the Family Rescue Center up until the 19th...their address is: 22103 Vanowen St, Canoga Park, CA 91303. Or if you know Robin & Robby, they are accepting donation drop-offs at their house/porch also! :) #FamilyRescueCenter #FRC #community #TPLA #BeTheChange #TurningPointLA #ItTakesAVillage
